Established in 1975, the Leesville Bassmasters is one of the oldest bass clubs in
North Carolina. The club was founded by a group of dedicated bass anglers with a common
vision of what competitive bass fishing is all about. They believed that tournament fishing
should be based on the following principles:
-
First and foremost, the primary objective of our club should be to foster the love of
the sport of bass fishing.
-
Tournament fishing should be conducted as a friendly, open competition based on the spirit
of fair play, integrity and sportsmanship. To encourage this spirit, the club does not conduct
money tournaments except for a once a year tournament that includes anglers with the overall
highest scores in last years tournaments.
-
Club membership should be open to novice and experienced anglers alike. Sharing techniques and
experiences will make us all better anglers and help to interest others in the sport of bass
fishing.
-
Finally, and most importantly, tournament fishing should be fun!
Our club continues to abide by these principles today.
One thing that sets the Leesville Bassmasters apart from many other clubs is that we do
not conduct monthly money tournaments. Our philosophy is that the emphasis in club tournaments
should be on fun and fellowship. We have found that it is sometimes hard to maintain that spirit
when money is involved. We award trophies for the winners of each monthly tournament as well as
yearly trophies for the top three fisherman and big fish.
Our club is always looking for new members, including non-boaters. If you are interested in
