Leesville BASSMasters fished what turned out to be a scorcher on Randelman Lake near Asheboro, NC today. This was our first trip to Randelman, and several club members were unable to fish due to other commitments. While an early overcast kept temps somewhat cool in the mid-60s at blast-off, they quickly rose to the mid-90s by weigh-in.
Craig Koefler was the only angler to bring fish to the scales, although partners Tom Robertson and Jim Simons both admitted that they had their chances. Craig weighed in three fish weighing 4.50 lbs, anchored by a 2.20 lb big fish. Our next tournament will be on August 5th at Lake Gaston out of Hawtree Creek. Gaston typically has a decent early topwater bite in August, and with hot temps, there is generally water being pulled for power generation for at least a portion of the day. Hopefully, the field will have better luck than we've had the past couple of tournaments. |
