OK Winter that's it, we're tapping out! Leesville BASSMasters arrived to an unseasonably cold Falls Lake for our second tournament of 2018. We started the day with clear skies and a chilly 33 degrees, with water temps at launch just north of 51 degrees. Clouds filled in throughout the morning, and by weigh-in time, we'd barely budged 50 with a light rain falling. It's hard to believe that just a couple of weeks earlier, you could find water temps in near 60 in some areas.
After calling all of the the fish to the scales, Leesville rookie non-boater Mike Lee took first place with (4 fish, 5.27#), while his boater Mark Cannon took second (2 fish, 4.65#), anchored by a 3.60# which was the big fish for the day. Tom Robertson took third (4 fish, 4.64#). Other members who brought fish to the scales included Duke Bevard (3 fish, 4.46#), Wes House (1 fish, 2.45#), and Craig Koefler (1 fish, 0.99#). While a couple members lost good fish, quality fish remained elusive at the scales. Our next tournament is April 14th at Randleman Lake near Asheboro, NC and we're looking forward to what we hope will be more seasonal temperatures and conditions. |
