Leesville BASSMasters held our first tournament of the 2017 today at Shearon-Harris Lake in New Hill, NC. The day started out at a chilly 28 degrees, and water temps were in the mid 50s. Bluebird skies dominated along with a light breeze, and water temps were in the high 50s by weigh-in time. Harris has a 16"-20" slot limit, and several members had to release fish that would have been part of a solid limit on any other lake. Needless to say, conditions were tough.
When the weigh-in was over, Tom Robertson walked away with 1st place (2 fish, 8.13 pounds), and big fish at 6.98 pounds. Wes House came in 2nd (1 fish, 1.67 pounds), just barely edging out Craig Koefler in 3rd (1 fish, 1.65 pounds). Our next tournament will be on April 1 & 2 at High Rock Lake, home of several past BASSMasters Classics. |
